Bach Institute
January 5-20 2013
The Bach Institute 2013 offers an intensive exploration of the historical framework and performance of works by J. S. Bach for college-age students, mentored by Emmanuel Music faculty. Students from Oberlin Conservatory and local Boston institutions such as New England Conservatory and Boston University School of Music participate in recitals, master classes and discussions.
Events that take place at Emmanuel Church and are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC include:
- Sunday Bach Cantatas at the Emmanuel Church Services

- Talks/discussions of Bach Cantatas by Pamela Dellal, Institute Faculty
- Talk with John Harbison, Institute Faculty, on Cantata BWV 97 illustrated by Rose Mary Harbison, violin
Sunday, January 13 at 12:30 PM
- How to Sing and Play Bach Recitative: Masterclass with Michael Beattie and Frank Kelley
Wednesday, January 16 at 3:30 PM
- Culminating student performance of Bach Arias, and Cantata BWV 97 conducted by Emmanuel Music Artistic Director Ryan Turner
