The words of Walt Whitman are timeless. His way of approaching prose with regards to social justice issues during his lifetime speaks truths to the woes of today. Weave in my Hardy Life is a poem that expresses the need (and desire) to consistently fight for causes that lead to a more equitable society. He asks for strength and courage as he pursues these causes. As with Whitman’s poem, the music “weaves” throughout with a constant repeating melody, as well as counterpoint which symbolizes the ability of music to interweave different voices that form a whole - the same way we must lift our individual voices for the good of the order.
