Dear Friends,
It is a privilege to announce my second season as Artistic Director
of Emmanuel Music. I hope you will share in my excitement for the richness and depth of the music-making we have planned.
Given our unique 40-year dialogue with the music of Bach, begun
by Craig Smith with the Sunday Cantata Series, it seems appropriate
that Emmanuel Music should kick off our evening concert program
with Bach’s consummate masterwork, the B Minor Mass. Our second
concert, Connected by Bach, continues our exploration into the
music of Stravinsky and enables the listener to hear the music of
Bach, Mozart, and Stravinsky anew. We close our season with a
concert production of Mozart’s exquisitely graceful and noble opera La Clemenza di Tito.
Following on the success of Year I in our Beethoven chamber music series, we will continue to explore the small-scale vocal and
instrumental work of this great master. A rare treat for those who
love art song will be two special concerts featuring pianist Russell
Sherman and tenor Frank Kelley performing Schubert and Schumann.
I invite you to discover or re-discover Emmanuel Music, where
the music springs from an ensemble of unparalleled commitment
and passion.
