Dear Friends,

Welcome to Emmanuel Music’s 55th Season! We are delighted that you are joining us for Dido’s Ghost, the first offering in our evening concert series. This is Emmanuel Music’s inaugural collaboration with the MIT Chamber Chorus and it is a privilege to be entrusted with the East Coast and modern instrument premiere of Errollyn Wallen and Wesley Stace’s innovative chamber opera. This project has reunited us with Choreographer Shura Baryshnikov and marks a new partnership with Director Rebecca Miller Kratzer. We feel that Dido’s Ghost beautifully aligns with one of Emmanuel Music’s core programming missions – to link past and present while amplifying the voices of living composers.Emmanuel Music is the only organization in the world that performs Bach’s cantatas on a weekly basis within a liturgical context. As performers ourselves, we know that through this weekly cantata series, our Orchestra and Chorus have developed an intuitive musical sensibility that transcends to numerous other musical groups in our community.  As Boston’s Bach ensemble for over five decades, Emmanuel Music continues to be an indispensable contributor to our region’s cultural ecosystem. Your presence here affirms that the support of music and the performing arts is an essential cultural endeavor. We are grateful that you, too, recognize the importance of protecting space to express our common humanity.Thank you for your curiosity and your enthusiasm. We look forward to experiencing this season of “second looks” with you.
