Seid barmherzig, wie auch euer Vater barmherzig ist,
Richtet nicht, so werdet ihr auch nicht gerichtet,
Verdammet nicht, so werdet ihr auch nicht verdammet,
Vergebet, so wird euch vergeben,
Gebet, so wird euch gegeben.
Ein voll, gedruckt, gerüttelt und überflüssig Maß
wird man in euren Schoß geben,
Denn eben mit dem Maß, da ihr mit messet,
wird man euch wieder messen.
Mag auch ein Blinder einem Blinden den Weg weisen,
Werden sie nicht alle beide in die Grube fallen?
Der Jünger ist nicht über seinen Meister;
Wenn Jünger ist wie sein Meister, so ist er vollkommen.
Was siehest du aber einen Splitter in deines Bruders Auge,
Und des Balken in deinem Auge wirst du nicht gewahr!
Oder wie kannst du sagen zu deinem Bruder:
Halt stille, Bruder, ich will den Splitter aus deinem Auge ziehen,
Und du siehest selbst nicht den Balken in deinem Auge.
Du Heuchler, zeuch zuvor den Balken aus deinem Auge,
und besiehe denn,
Daß du den Splitter aus deines Bruders Auge ziehest.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful;
Do not judge, and you will not be judged;

A full, pressed, shaken, and overflowing measure
Will be put into your lap,
For even with the measure that you measure with,
will you be measured in return.
Can a blind person show another blind person the way?
Will they not both fall into the pit?
The disciple is not above his teacher;
If the disciple is like his teacher, then he has competed his study.
Why, however, do you see a splinter in your brother’s eye,
And are unaware of the log in your own eye!
Or, how can you say to your brother:
‘Hold still, brother, I will take the splinter out of your eye,’
And you still don’t see the log in your own eye.
You hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye,
And then see to it
That you take the splinter out of your brother’s eye.
