David Schulenberg is known internationally as both a writer on European music history and a performer on historical keyboard instruments. In addition to a recent life-and-works of J. S. Bach, he has written books on the music of Bach’s sons Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, and he has edited keyboard works of J. S. and C. P. E. Bach. His book on Baroque performance practice will be published by Boydell Press in 2026. As a performer he can be heard on CDs of chamber music by Quantz, C. P. E. Bach, and the Graun brothers, on the Naxos, Hungaroton, and Brilliant Classics labels. He serves on the faculty of Boston University; additional writings, recordings, and editions are available on his website, schulenbergmusic.org.
