BWV 163

This piece was inspired by JS Bach’s Cantata BWV 163. The sweeping instrumentals and grand sound of the tenor aria, the first part of the cantata, felt like music that would accompany the end of a journey where someone is finally coming home. Inspired by this, I depicted a scene of an individual making their way home. The cantata itself talks about greed, money, and worldly desires in opposition to the purest desires of being devout and a good believer. I illustrated these ideas in the motifs around the piece of the heart and the coin.
