Tenebrae factae sunt
dum crucifixissent Jesum Judaei;
et circa horam nonam
exclamavit Jesus voce magna:
Deus meus, Deus meus,
ut quid me dereliquisti?
Et inclinato capite,
emisit spiritum.

Darkness occurred
when the people crucified Jesus;
and about the ninth hour
Jesus cried out with a loud voice:
My God, my God,
why have you foresaken me?
And bowed his head,
sending forth his spirit.

Father, into your hands
I commend my spirit.
