Cheyenne McCoy is an artist and educator whose interests in music span almost ten centuries of practice and repertoire. As principal viola da gamba, section cello, and general manager for the Oklahoma Baroque Orchestra, she participates in and facilitates the craft of historically informed collaborative performance in Oklahoma City. She also plays vielle in the Orchestra's Tavern & Trills Consort, exploring the improvisatory traditions of music from the Medieval to the Baroque periods, and plays celloi n the Orchestra's string quartet, devoted to researching 19th century performance practice.

 Cheyenne has a deep love for reconstructing history with a view towards innovation and experimentation. Her solo project, Abbess, composes and performs improvisatory works for viola da gamba, electronics, and voice.Abbess is principally inspired by the music of Hildegard von Bingen and the  somatic experience of institutionalized religion.

 Cheyenne’s collaborative projects have recently included“Vermi11ion: The Absence of Humanity,” a composition and sound installation about gun violence at Positive Space Tulsa, accompanying paintings by Kiona Millirons. Other collaborations include touring, writing, and recording with rock bands Stepmom and Speak Memory, as well as freelance work across Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
