Tenor Opal Clyburn-Miller is an active ensemble singer and soloist in the Washington, D.C. area, having appeared in concert with The Thirteen, the Washington Bach Consort, and the Washington National Cathedral Choir. They have been a featured soloist with the Handel Choir of Baltimore (Handel’s Messiah), Baltimore Choral Arts Society (Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb), and Bach in Baltimore (BWV 7 Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam). They have also appeared in international festivals: Aspen Music Festival’s Professional Choral Institute with Seraphic Fire, Bachakademie Stuttgart, and Spoleto Festival USA.

Passionate about oratorio literature and baroque performance practices, Opal has attended the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, the American Bach Soloists Academy, and Bach Akademie Charlotte. In the 2025/26 season, they’ve been named a VOCES8 US Scholar, and will perform with VOCES8 in February.

Opal is currently based in Baltimore, pursuing a master’s degree in vocal performance at the Peabody Conservatory. They study with American soprano Tony Arnold, coach with baroque faculty, and perform in the vocal ensembles of Dr. Beth Willer. With Dr. Willer, Opal has performed both early and modern works: Kaija Saariaho’s Nuits Adieux, David Lang’s the little match girl passion, and Okeghem’s Alma Redemptoris Mater.
