We are committed to making our signature Bach Cantata Series, now in its sixth decade, freely available to anyone who wishes to enjoy our musicianship digitally, or who isn't able to join us for the in-person experience. This commitment is part of an organization-wide prioritization of accessibility, and its implications reach well beyond our recent efforts to support the safety of our community during the pandemic.

Due to the generosity of our musicians, we were able to explore a limited version of live streaming last season for no additional compensation. That opportunity showed us how important it is to expand access digitally, and we have committed to broadening our efforts.

We are accomplishing our goal by live streaming each weekly presentation, and then archiving the recording on our website, ensuring that Bach's cantatas are available to both local and international audiences at no cost.

Our immediate challenge is that the expense of presenting cantatas has significantly increased—by approximately $80,000—because we are compensating our musicians fairly for the rights to distribute their work digitally, now and into the future. This season, we will pay our musicians more than $200,000 to share weekly Bach cantatas (and works by other composers, including the premiers of several commissioned works) with you between September 26, 2021 and May 15, 2022.

Please support our efforts with a donation. For those with greater financial resources, we invite you to underwrite a specific cantata or other work. Underwriting can also be an opportunity to honor someone or mark an important occasion.

    • Donations of any amount are gratefully appreciated
    • $3,000 partial cantata underwriting (non-exclusive)
    • $5,000 full cantata underwriting

    Benefits of Underwriting
    • Opportunity to provide personalized text for the underwriting credit
