Heinrich Schütz

Dulcissime et benignissime Christe,
infunde, obsecro, multitudinem dulcedinis
Tuae et charitatis tuae pectori meo,
ut neo terrenum, nihil carnale
desiderem vel cogitem sed te solum amen,
te solum habeam in ore et in corde meo.

Sweetest and kindest Christ,
pour, I pray, the richness of your sweetness
and your charity into my breast,
so that nothing earthly, nothing of the flesh
shall I desire or think upon, but love you alone,
have you alone on my lips and in my heart.

Meditations of St Augustine 18
